Inspired by Diabetes
Inspired by Diabetes is a global and national campaign asking people with diabetes, as well as their family, friends, and healthcare professionals, to express how diabetes has impacted their lives.
At the heart of Inspired by Diabetes is the Creative Expression Competition, which seeks expressions of the challenges and triumphs of the diabetes journey through art, essay, poetry, and photography. By telling their story in a creative way, participants help bring life to children in need.
Participants from the United States will also have their submissions entered into a special separate U.S. contest with a chance to win both the global and national competitions. Applications for the U.S. Creative Expression Competition are now being accepted. The submission deadline is March 31, 2009.
A collaboration between global champions

Inspired by Diabetes is a collaboration between Eli Lilly and Company, the International Diabetes Federation's Unite for Diabetes initiative, and the International Society for Pediatric and Adoloscent Diabetes (ISPAD). In the United States, ADA is serving as the Inspired by Diabetes U.S. national advocate. Inspired by Diabetes builds on the goals established by the IDF campaign:
- bringing diabetes to the public's attention
- inspiring action to improve diabetes care
- uniting individuals, families, and communities affected by diabetes around the world
